As we know India is a place with diverse cultural backgrounds, every region has its own traditional eating pattern and public health issues.

Nutrition Informatics is defined as an effective retrieval, organization, storage, and optimum use of information, data, and knowledge for food and nutrition-related problem-solving, decision-making. Informatics is supported by using information standards, information processes, and information technology.

Give your opinion on ways where Nutrition Informatics platforms can be introduced in India to improve public health outcomes.

An excellent read and great efforts by authors to make this powerful publication. The amalgam of nutrition, health, and informatics makes life easier. Such tools can be helpful in decision making also for policymaking.

We should emphasize more on the informatics arena in nutrition for public health reach and make such technology accessible to the grassroots level of Indian slums and villages.

Nutrition Information is a needed resource in public health work, serving as the first step in large-scale analyses of diseases, whether chronic or infectious. Practitioners require nutrition information as a resource, but obtaining or interpreting data can be difficult. Nutrition Informatics can often function essentially as a translation service for these practitioners by interpreting data, turning them into information, and presenting that information to the practitioners who need it in a language they can understand. This is highly needed in India and if applied or introduced, It can strengthen the existing public health system of India upto a great extent.

The Internet is playing an increasingly important role in the lives of people across the globe. The areas of nutrition and health are among the fastest growing areas of interest on the Internet, and are the main topics many people search for when ‘surfing’ the Internet. As the information age progresses, consumers will become more health literate and health professionals will have to ensure they can provide advice as to how their patients can find reliable web sites among the many misleading and biased sites on the Internet. This paper predicts the role the Internet will soon play in everyday life, and provides a guide to assessing the reliability of health and nutrition websites.
