Preparing the Public Health Workforce to be Health Diplomats

Session Summary: Public health is confronted with complex and interconnected challenges that need to be addressed urgently by fostering enhanced collaboration, coordination, and communication across diverse sectors and stakeholders. Strengthening health diplomacy at informal and multi-stakeholder levels can create pathways to improved health outcomes and promote well-being. Schools and programs of public health educate and train the future public health workforce, who must develop competencies in health diplomacy to confront present and future challenges. This session will explore the critical role of public health diplomacy and highlight the importance of equipping public health students with the knowledge, skills, and expertise needed to navigate this evolving field effectively.
